A sea change in onboard fitness

It’s a VT world

Virtual training started to gain momentum a couple of years ago but, thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, remote exercise has now moved from a convenience to a necessity, benefiting not just our bodies, but businesses too.

“The technology offering in fitness equipment has gone through the roof,” says Edward Thomas, managing director of Gym Marine. The company has fitted onboard gyms on superyachts such as the 156-metre and 107-metre and worked on several high-profile land-based projects, including the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in London. “We are spending a lot of our time liaising with audiovisual companies to ensure that the gym is a fully immersive experience – from speakers and screens to the lighting,” says Thomas.
