Dior & Us

Maria Grazia Chiuri may be small, but her presence is large. She arrives at our shoot with her platinum blonde hair slicked back in a low ponytail and her face bare. She wears blue jeans, a white shirt, sandals and a statement skull ring – nonchalant, but supremely stylish.

Perhaps it’s a similar entrance to the one she made at Christian Dior in mid-2016. When Chiuri took on the role of artistic director she clearly chose her camp, and it wasn’t the posturing kind. Always herself and nothing else, she became known as a rebel who paints within the lines – able to push back and hold her own against the alpha males of the luxury world who hired her.

Today, she’s on set with her daughter, Rachele Regini, 24, who is a cultural advisor for the maison. It’s the eve of the maison’s spring/summer 2021
