    HOW TO SEE OFF SAWFLY

    This year my gooseberry bush was completely stripped of leaves by something I am guessing was sawfly. The gooseberries themselves were fine. Is there something I can do to prevent this happening again or do I need to dig up the gooseberry bush and start again?

    Yes it certainly sounds like gooseberry sawfly. The pests will be overwintering as pupae in the soil below the plants now ready to emerge in the spring, timed with the new leaves unfurling. It’s a good idea therefore to rake
