Cinco de Mayo is the “Fifth of May.” It goes into details of why this day is important to the Mexican Community. They celebrate this day because of the Mexican victory over the French army which was on the Fifth of May. It shows photographs of how they celebrate this day. By parades, floats, colorful clothes, food, and more. This book was read to a three year old class. They enjoyed the colorful pictures of the children there age with the different clothes on, having fun. We talked about the different foods they enjoy like quesadillas and salsa. The children had a great time. One of the activities we did was the Mexican Hat Dance. Where a two children dance around a sombrero. Then we made salsa in the class for the children to eat with chips.
