      Stop Believing Lies

      We open a door to the enemy when we believe his lies. Satan has been trying to gain access to our lives through lies since the beginning. The door to the enemy stays closed when our words and thoughts align with the truth of God’s Word.

      ENGAGE

      Name three bands or musical artists and say that you have seen them live in concert. Choose two of them that will be the truth and one a lie. See if the people in your group can guess the lie.

      WATCH

      Think about the parts of your life that seem to always be problematic. Is it possible that you are believing a lie?

      Look for ways you may be able to align your thought life better with God’s Word.

      A woman once asked me for prayer because the enemy (the devil) was lying to her. I asked why we needed to pray if she knew it was the enemy and she knew he was lying. We agreed the real issue was that she believed those lies. This happens to all of us. We are in warfare, and the enemy’s greatest tactic is deception. In Genesis 3, Satan in the form of the serpent had to get Eve to believe a lie before she sinned.

      While in the emergency room as child, I overheard a nurse say I would probably be back in the emergency room most of my adult life because I was accident prone. I believed that lie. I believed it as a child when I had different kinds of accidents and injuries. I still believed it in 2007 when I stepped in a hole while on vacation. My ankle socket was completely shattered and had to be rebuilt surgically, and I broke my foot. Disc golf isn’t a contact sport. It’s not supposed to be, anyway.
