Growing up in rural Cornwall in the 1980s sewing was always in the background. Poppy's mum worked on an old treadle sewing machine to make clothes from Clothkits patterns and she even did a bit of clothes making herself as a teenager, cutting up one of her mum’s original Laura Ashley dresses
