About this ebook

Say What?! What you say has more to do with your own life than you know. Jesus said, “For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” If you have a mouth and you can speak then you are bound to speak sometime; and when you speak it would be very good for you and others that you know how to speak positive words. Your words effect your life; but not only your life, they also effect others and God also. Let’s put that in different words; when you choose to speak God’s Words they will both affect and have an effect on the one you are speaking to and on you also. This is the second edition, the first edition is found in the book The Echo Effect.

    Say What?! - Winner Torborg

    Say What?!

    Say What?!

    By: Winner Torborg

Make your words good—you will be glad you did.  Words can bring death or life!  Talk too much, and you will eat everything you say, (Proverbs 18:20-21 Contemporary English Version).

Almost all his life people around Winner have been trying to get the best of him.  Winner was always the kind of guy who, if he found a good cause, would do he best to help.  He was never one for falsity although he did have a hard time catching others in their lies.

In September of 1980, Winner Torborg made the life changing confession that Jesus is Lord; he was age of 19 years at the time.  Four years later, September of 1984, at a Christian meeting Winner asked for and received the anointing of the Holy Spirit; right then everything he had read in the Bible came alive to him and his ability to learn and grasp knowledge of God’s Word increased mightily.  The next day he answered the call of God to step into the ministry, mainly as a teacher.

As a teacher, Winner had to learn and retain knowledge from the Bible and from watching how other people act in their lives.  In September of 1985, Winner began a newsletter ministry called Bread of Life.  He started by writing to a group of church people, and his ministry grew.  In 1997, Winner put his ministry on the World Wide Web, and the name changed to Bread of Life International Ministries.  He is now reaching people from all around the world in many different languages.

Winner also writes for many online magazines and for Bread of Life International Ministries (www.bolim.org).

Why I use many versions of the Bible?

I do this because there is not one version that has every verse right; none of the modern versions have been translated directly from the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek.  If I only used the King James you would get only a King James approach to God’s Word; likewise, if I only used the NIV you would get an NIV approach.  I wanted to share the clearest approach that I can so I must use many versions.  As an ancient saying that many people claim as their own goes, There is more than one way to go up a mountain.  I use many Bibles but you must let the Holy Spirit guide you.  And I suggest that you get many versions also.  In one version a verse may be quoted one way and in another the same verse is quoted a totally different way.

    Prologue

I really want to see you all in heaven.  But your words might be what are keeping you out.  Words. Speech. What do you say about God?  What do you say about His creation?  What do you say about your neighbor?  What about Sodam Hussein?  You know, Mr. Hussein was made in God’s image.

Signs.  Everywhere you go you see, hear (yes, hear) and feel and smell signs.  A sign is anything that relays information to you.  What you do with that information is what matters; the signs are put there to try and influence a reaction or a response.

See, when you are talking about yourself or others you are talking about the one who created that him or her.  If you are talking about someone else you are talking about yourself.  It all seems very complicated, but it really isn’t.  Do you remember a baseball help called a Pitch-back?  It was (I believe they still make them) a trampoline on its side with a target in the center, I had one in high school.  The object was to pitch a baseball right in the center and it would rebound it back to you.  Well, think of that person whom you are talking to or about as a Pitch-back.

I wrote this book because there aren’t any books specifically about speaking to or about yourself, other people, and/or about God.  There are many books about the power of words spoken to things but not about speaking to or about other people, people like Sodam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, Adolf Hitler, our president, people whom you would love to see on the chopping block, and yourself.

The book is free, except for the printer’s fee, so that you can get it.  And then, if you want to, if you feel right about doing this, you can write a check to this ministry, Bread of Life International Ministries.  So, if you would, please write a check to Pastor Winner Torborg c/o Bread of Life International Ministries, P.O. Box 222 Little River, Kansas  67457  U.S.A.  Thank you and may God richly bless you.

    Read Philippians 4:14-19.

    Chapter  1

    Signs

A sign is a symbol or a signal (a prompt) maybe a suggestion that people use to influence an action.  Signs motivate, they trigger the imagination, they can be deceptive, they can cause you to alter you speech.  I’ll prove that they trigger imaginations:  visualize a big black and brown Doberman Pincer with blood dripping out of his snarling, growling mouth.  Now visualize him looking at you and barking wildly, he’s running toward you, showing his bloody teeth and barking wildly.  Aren’t you glad that this is only a suggested thought?  Because you were prepared to run and in your mind you were running in fear already.  That’s what signs are for, to influence an action.

    Motivate

We see many signs; signs that tell us what to do, where to go, why you should do what they want you to do and so forth.  Many people look at those signs and are motivated to act in a way that they normally wouldn’t act if they hadn’t seen those signs.  For instance, some people are prone to a lack of self-control where it comes to food and when they see a billboard with a nice scrumptious plate of pasta and marinara sauce or a nice cut of beef and a steaming baked potato with cheese and sour cream on it, all melting and dripping with goodness, well they just have to go to that restaurant right away.  Some people are motivated by sex; this is a biggy with cigarette and wine companies.  The list goes on and on folks.

Did you know that what people say to you is a sign?  Just think about it, if someone comes to you and tells you that they get feelings or thoughts of suicide that is a sign to you that the person is often in a state of depression.  Or, if someone were to tell you things that he actually believed were true, told you that you had to accept them because they were true, he is giving you a sign that you have to change and trying to motivate you to change.

Believe it or not, a nice cool day is also a sign.  You may have heard the saying, Red sky at night, sailors delight….  Jesus said,

When evening comes, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,' and in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.' You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times, (Matthew 16:2-3).

So, now you can see that the weather is a sign.

Feelings and emotions are also signs.  If you have an emotion of anger you want to strike out at someone because that emotion is telling you, influencing you, that so-n-so did you wrong and he deserves to die.  Or you feel sick so you take some medicine, go to a doctor or hospital and maybe even have an operation.  You have feelings of hunger or thirst so you eat or drink something.

Television is an audio and a visual sign; radio is just audio but it’s also a sign.  What you hear can motivate you in a positive or a negative fashion.  You may hear a song on the radio that sounds nice, it may strike a note of confidence in you and tell you that it is
