Sit Under My Apple Tree - Preface

I won’t take much of your time, but I’d love for you to sit down under my apple tree and talk about friendship with me. Why an apple tree? You’ll see!

You could pour yourself a cup of hot apple spice tea or just grab a delicious, juicy apple of your favorite variety. Let’s make this fun! And you don’t need to just listen; you can talk back to me, too. Feel free to email me at kay@kayharms.com as you read along or after you’ve completed this short book. Let’s share our ideas on the wonderful subject of friendship.

A doctor and a patient are not friends. The doctor speaks wisdom and information into the patient’s life and the patient pays the bill.

And make no mistake about it; a parent and a child (at least during the formative years) are not friends. The parent speaks into the child’s life and the child listens. Later, when the child is older, the parent (hopefully) allows the child to begin speaking into their life and he or she begins to speak a little less into the adult child’s life. Thus
