Origin
The early 1500’s in the United Kingdom is the origin of the bull terrier. It is said in England during the early industrial time. References of the use of bull
and terrier
were used during this time. By the 1830s the bull terrier, or B.T.
, landed spots in Novels such as Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist and in sporting magazines discussing where the breeds that made up the bull terrier originated from. In earlier breeding days there were no supervision of stud books or breeding records, like AKC, UKC and CKC, we have come a long way today with records, pedigrees, and tracing dogs linage back. Hinks and his son were responsible for the white, muscular and considered attractive bull terrier dogs. They had grace, style, soundness and a new exciting breed at that time. Hinks introduced the first bull terrier at the 1860 Birmingham Show. James Hinks was also known as the Father of the Bull Terrier
. A famous B.T. from 1934 was Patsy Ann, a white homeless bull terrier, native
