About this ebook
In this book, author Shamonda Dunton shares the real-life journey of her and her husband’s experience with doubt, struggles, and disappointments in the midst of their desires to have a child and start a family. Yet this devoted couple was able to face the challenge of faith and find strength while waiting on the promises of God to manifest themselves, even when years of waiting didn’t turn out as expected. But they learned from the experience and now share with fellow believers that everything is according to God’s time and will—it just takes patience and the imagination to recognize and accept God’s blessings when they come.

Preface
T he Bible tells us that before the foundations of the earth, the Lord knew us. He knew everything about us, even before we were formed in our mothers’ wombs. That means that when we first came into the world, He already knew our names, well before our earthly parents made the list of meaningful names. Seriously, the Lord knew what we would be before the doctor could tell our parents. He knew the first time we would say our first words and take our first steps, when our first tooth would break through, and when we would acknowledge Him as our Savior. He heard every prayer that our parents and most grandparents prayed for us all those years ago! That means before we were even pushed out from our mothers’ wombs, we must have been in the presence of God.
Oh, how wonderful that must’ve been, to have His divine finger upon our spirits. God made every cell divide when they were told to divide. He made sure every chamber of our heart was good. This is the very reason that God is our first true love. He designed our heart, so why wouldn’t he know our heart’s desires? Nothing surprises God when it comes to our dreams and desires; He created them inside of us. We have to learn how to tap into those things that He placed in us in the first place.
It is up to us to make our requests known to Him. In this scripture, it also tells us not to be anxious for anything. (Philippians 4:6-8) My revelation to this scripture is unsophisticated by all means. This is how I see it; of course, your view may be different. Tell God what you want, but don’t just sit around thinking that it’s going to fall into your lap! God is not the genie from Aladdin, where if we rub the lamp, He will grant those things to us. Even the genie only guaranteed three wishes. God grants you the desires of your heart, if you delight yourself in Him.
I must warn you, my mind hasn’t always been as faithful to God as He is to me. If you get a little confused along the way, then you are experiencing my world. Welcome to the thoughts of a woman who has prayed many prayers as a mother. Welcome to a couple who has separately pleaded with God to grant us children. Welcome to a man whose prayer have been to be the father that he’s always wanted, and one who will lead his children to the heart of God! Welcome to the fear that has crippled our faith. Welcome to the promises of God spoken over our lives, in the midst of doubt! Welcome, welcome, welcome!
Now, let’s go back to the Word. In Philippians 4:7, God says to us that we need peace during this waiting process. God told us that we needed to have peace through any difficult situation.
God never promised us that after salvation, we would have long walks in the park sniffing roses or petting puppies. He does, however, give us every tool that we need to get through life’s obstacles. When it floods, God provides the umbrella, the boots, the hat, the boat, and the oar to paddle with down the river! Thank God that where there is presence of living water, anxiety and fear cannot exist! As John 7:38 says, Your innermost being will flow rivers of living water.
There are some situations in our lives where we’d be lost if it wasn’t for God. Ralph and I are living out those days every day. We wrote this book to encourage you to continue waiting on the promises of God. Your dreams aren’t too far-fetched for God to answer. Besides, He’s the creator of the sun, moon, and stars—there’s nothing He can’t do! So by all means, stretch your faith and seek God in His faithfulness. His promises are true indeed!
Prayer for You, the Reader!
Father God, I come before you right now, asking that you will first forgive us of anything that we have done, said, or thought that was not pleasing in your sight. God, we love and thank you for giving us another day to be in your presence, and for giving us a second chance this day.
Right now, I pray that this touches the reader’s heart in ways that the enemy cannot erase! I pray that as you read this book, you see yourselves in this. God, I pray for those who are praying for children reading this book, so that all wounds will be healed. God, you sent Your Son to pay for our sins, and His stripes made us whole! I pray that those thoughts of your past are now stunning treasures lighting up your future. I know that not everyone reading this is praying for children, but whatever promise God has spoken over you, I pray that your faith be restored and reactivated. I pray that you find the path that God has already made straight before you. I pray
