    A Philippine Swimming Excursion

    Swimming is an organized event in the Philippines. It includes several features that may surprise you.

    Of course, if you are a tourist in the Philippines, you will simply rent a hotel room near a beach or swimming pool and jump into the water, just as you would do in the United States, Italy, or Germany. However, if you live in the Philippines, especially in a rural area, the swimming expedition is more elaborate.

    First of all, you must decide where you want to swim. Most Philippine cities have pools that are open to the public, and the ocean and its beaches are not too far away from the average neighborhood in this island nation. There are also some springs with either warm or cool water.

    Be sure to invite your relatives and neighbors. In the Philippines, swimming is a hospitable social event.

    Set a date and hire a jeepney that will take you to the place where you want to swim. A jeepney is a sort of small bus that is open at the back. The owner of the jeepney will be your driver.

    Strange to say, you will have to prepare a lot of food. Filipinos feel that swimming is not any fun without food, and they seem to be immune to stomach cramps.
