    Can Jesus Christ IMPACT a community today? Can your faith decisions impact your world? This drama, IMPACT HAITI TODAY (or IHT), with 6 characters, brings a strong answer: YES! Jesus uses locally active faith to IMPACT life today. IHT originally was written in English, and is about 5,000 words in that language. This version is in both English and Haitian Creole. Originally written in Jos, Nigeria, IHT has been updated for Haiti and translated into Haitian Creole. The authors intend for IHT to be accessible and fun, as well as Scripturally accurate and transformational.

     

    But instead of me writing, listen to the narrator of the play introduce the work himself:

    • "Welcome to Impact Haiti Today.  We are pleased to be able to bring you a special drama and discussion, one focussing on the impact of Jesus Christ, man of Galilee. What impact does He have on the problems of today? Does He affect our lives? Can Jesus Christ, a man who lived and died in Israel some 2,000 years ago, be relevant to us in our towns and our country today? Yes a man - but also the risen Son of God who lives to save! In this drama, you will meet Luka and Tayo, two friends who are going to a fellowship meeting.  Luka, a medical doctor, is a Christian; Tayo, his friend, is a searcher. You will also see a few others come to join the meeting. This is a light drama; the characters do not represent anyone you know or we know. Yet, they represent all of us! Now I encourage you to read this play! You will probably find it encouraging."

      NOTICE:

      We used Africa in the original work, Impact Africa. Now, we recognize that the story is still fresh and might be useful elsewhere. For example, drama teams in Haiti or Guatemala or the Bahamas, on Native American Tribal Lands or with North American youth groups, could use this material. Therefore, we give permission for presenters to change the location and the names to make them relevant for your setting - not for distribution beyond your group, but for use in your local presentation.

      Also note that, when this was written in Africa, tribe was the correct collective term for groups of people from an ethnic group. Permission is granted to change the term tribe and its cognates to a culturally appropriate word of your choice.

      Character names may be changed. As first written, we used 3 male and 3 female roles. Permission is given to select actors of either sex for any role.

      Longer Scripture readings may be broken up into multiple voices, read by characters on stage, or read by off stage voices.
