Introduction of Engineering Mechanics
Introduction
T
he branch of science that deals with the action of different forces and their effects on bodies at rest or in motion is termed as mechanics. Engineering mechanics deals with the principles of mechanics applied to the problems in engineering. It is that branch of science which is concerned with the system of forces, effects produced by these forces on rigid bodies in the state of rest or in motion and the study of geometry of motion of rigid bodies and particles.

The engineering mechanics may be divided into two main branches:
