About this ebook
Can People Really Change?
David Lucero knows where he wants to travel: He wants to go to city, Texas.
David is about sixty years old, I think. For the last three months, he has been living on a sidewalk across the road from a Greyhound bus depot.
I don't understand how long David has been homeless. he's one amongst America's walking wounded— insane, unable to require care of himself, unable to deal with the business of life. he's always happy to speak, although you have got to repeat yourself some times before he can understand you: David is losing his hearing.
One day i attempted to take him to a shelter for the homeless. All he had to try and do was get in the truck. He had to form a decision: Get in or remain the road. the proper decision could have started the cycle of healing and altering or change, but it had been over David was capable of doing that morning. He decided to remain on the road, watching for his imaginary ride to the city.
When I meet people like David, I tell myself that Charles Lutwidge Dodgson didn't make anything up when he wrote Alice in Wonderland. i've got met many folks who are flesh and blood Cheshire Cats, Mad Hatters, and Queens of Hearts.
I get contact a day with people whose lives and families are torn apart by bad habits: people keen about cigarettes, alcohol, and illegal drugs; over-spenders, overeaters, and chronic worriers; negative thinkers, procrastinators, and folks who won't forgive themselves for something that happened way back.
I have seen firsthand how bad habits keep ordinary people from living happier and healthier lives. Everywhere you look, people want to grasp why they're unhappy. and that they want to grasp what they'll do about it.
The talk shows offer a continuing menu of miracle cures for each style of bad habit imaginable— everything from quick weight-loss programs to 20-minute lessons in positive thinking that promise to cure depression. We are constantly bombarded by programs that promise effortless and immediate results: change state fast, while eating the maximum amount as you want! bound to work! Sure.
We are overwhelmed with solutions today. and also the more solutions there are, the harder it's to search out one that works. many folks have failed such a big amount of times that they've almost given up the battle. Others gave up a really long time ago.
In This Book we will do our best to guide to the life of freedom that you strive for, but you must always remember eveything starts with you.
