prologue.

I was falling in love with him, although why, I couldn’t tell you. But it was like watching a movie, I was on the outside looking in, and I saw everything – every moment, every laugh, every bit of wrecking nervousness that ran through my body every time he was around. It’s not that I can’t tell you why he made me feel the way he did, it’s that I wasn’t even really sure. He wasn’t high maintenance, nor was he anywhere close to being some kind of prince; he was that attractive football player. I, myself, know nothing about football, matter of fact I don’t even like sports. But him? He made me want to be interested. He didn’t have the muscles, or the built-up body, he wasn’t anywhere near what we girls might categorize as flawless, but none of that really mattered. You know what did matter, though? The fact that he made every single day a struggle for me. It wasn’t about his hair or his eyes, or whatever else girls in cliché stories describe about the guy they like. For me, it was his entire being.

He drew me towards him, if that makes any sense. I wanted to know more, to see him more (because at least
