About this ebook

Green Man was dead. Dramatically. At last. Gregor could now rest in peace, knowing that the heinous serial killer known only to the world as Green Man, had finally met his demise.
Gregor would die too. There was little hope, as he lied pinned under tons of razor sharp glass shards that had fallen on him and Green Man. The tradeoff was worth it. Gregor had no regrets for a life well lived. He was a valiant hero. He was a martyr. This was the price one has to sometimes pay for achieving greatness and admiration from others. Gregor did not begrudge the fate that karma had bestowed upon him. Green Man was his cross to bear. A great hero requires a great villain. Green Man certainly had to be considered one of the greatest villains of contemporary times. Who could argue that?
Gregor's eyes glazed blankly ahead, staring directly at the lifeless figure of the notorious Green Man, whom lay prone some six feet away. A large glass shard stuck out of the right upper leg of the criminal, not unlike the tip of a glacier protruding from a deep cold sea. It was ironic that a similar shard protruded from the opposite leg of Gregor. Who wouldn't notice the irony? Everything about the two men was opposite.
Gregor was kind and passive. He couldn't hurt a fly. On the other hand, Green Man tortured and killed everything that stood in his way. They were classic polar opposites. Good versus Evil.
Gregor began to doze off…perhaps for the final time. That was ok. Gregor smiled. He felt liberated. He was free.
Green Man was gone forever.
…or was he?

    FOREWORD

Gregor’s eyes glazed blankly ahead, staring directly at the lifeless figure of the notorious Green Man, whom lay prone some six feet away. A large glass shard stuck out of the right upper leg of the criminal, not unlike the tip of a glacier protruding from a deep cold sea. It was ironic that a similar shard protruded from the opposite leg of Gregor. Who wouldn’t notice the irony? Everything about the two men was opposite.

Gregor was kind and passive. He couldn’t hurt a fly. On the other hand, Green Man tortured and killed everything that stood in his way. They were classic polar opposites. Good versus Evil.

Gregor began to doze off…perhaps for the final time. That was ok. Gregor smiled. He felt liberated. He was free.

    Green Man was gone forever.

    …or was he?

Due to popular demand, our lovable psychopath is back one more time. Our complex protagonist provides as much a study in deviant psychology of mind, as he does with the contribution to the genre of true terror. It was fun, and a labor of love, to provide Gregor’s devoted (and dare I say rabid?) fans with this third and final entry into this trilogy of psychological terror.

Please enjoy Gregor Returns with my sincere gratitude and appreciation.

Most everyone here has been sliced to ribbons.

After the comment was made by an EMS ambulance crewmember, the team leader thought he’d heard something. It sounded like a very weak and faint murmur. Was it laughter?

    Someone is alive. Find him.

While calling out to the voice, the trained crew began to systematically sift through the carnage of broken glass and debris. After pulling up a large broken mirror frame, and removing part of a section of drywall, they saw him.

Gregor was mortally wounded-but not dead. Apparently the sheet of parched drywall that had first fallen on him, shielded him from the sharp edged glass that had proven to be lethal to the others. Gregor did not escape unharmed however. A very large shard of the tempered glass had impaled itself into the upper extremity of his left leg. Gregor observed the injury for the first time, as the crew frantically yet carefully cleared away the debris that had buried him.

It looked like an iceberg jutting out of the Arctic Sea. Or was it the Antarctica? Which one had the North Pole? Gregor could not remember. Nobody could really blame him for not thinking clearly at the moment. Could they?

As the extraction process was taking place by the highly trained EMS staff, one of the members had a question of Gregor. Morbid curiosity demanded that he ask it.

Dude, when we first heard you, it confused us. We thought we had heard some sort of giggling. Why were you laughing?

Oh-that. Why yes of course. It was the remark one of your colleagues had made, Gregor replied as a smile returned to his face. It was something about everyone being sliced to ribbons.

Gregor paused, as did the working crew. Everyone on the scene was now listening.

It’s just that I find emergency room humor so amazingly funny. I think that kind of gaiety is cutting edge.

Please pardon the pun, Gregor then quickly added while spastically chortling.

The EMS crew stared at the giggling Gregor in unbelieving and stunned silence.

    _____

As Gregor was being lifted onto a stretcher, he glanced around. He saw what he was looking for. In a reflection from a broken mirror fragment, the figure of Green Man was lying still. In an ironic twist, Green Man had a similar injury to Gregor-only it was to the opposite leg-the right leg. The other difference was that Green Man was dead. Although Gregor was severely injured and clinging to life himself-he was not dead.

Gregor smiled with jubilation and satisfaction. He had done it. He had finally defeated the sinister adversary whom had plagued him for a lifetime.

Gregor had done humanity one final service as well. There would be no more serial killing-at least by this monster.

    _____

They say that hearing is the last of the senses to remain.

Gregor was losing consciousness. He was fading fast. He had heard the words…pressure is 60/25 and dropping. Pulse is weak. The femoral artery has been ruptured. He’s lost too much blood.

A blackness ravenously and unrelentingly overtook him. He gasped weakly in response.

    _____

Gregor could now rest easy. He would be branded a hero. Most importantly, he had completed a vow that he had made long ago.

Gregor had made Green Man pay for his sins.

Gregor had finished what he had started.

    Finally!

    At last!

    …or did he?

    2

Only one made it out alive-it’s amazing…defies all odds.

Gregor could hear the excited words of the burly ambulance driver, as his thin, frail and pallid partner nodded energetically. The thin man called Ferd was about to reply when ‘fatty’ jerked the vehicle forward and pulled away from the curb. The hefty driver puffed his pink fleshy cheeks as he punched the gas pedal of the glistening Cogan County Regional Hospital ambula while simultaneously engaging the shrill siren. The two-crew members squealed with delight while clapping their hands with frenzied rapidity.

Hey Abbott and Costello, could you disperse with the juvenile theatrics? I’m trying to concentrate back here. Gregor was trying to project his protestations in a tart and even curt tone. His feeble voice was barely audible, even to his own ears. The fact that he was strapped tight to a gurney and hooked up to a plethora of beeping medical devices did not help. He had lost a lot of blood. Lying beneath 500 lbs. of sharp jagged glass just minutes earlier proved to be just a bit too much-even for the resilient Gregor. He was lucky to be alive. He should probably be thankful. He would be thankful too…maybe. He was trying to summon up the emotion. As usual, this (or any) emotion did not heed Gregor’s call.

This guy should have been cut to pieces. There must have been a half ton of broken plate glass shards laying on top of him.

How many people were pronounced at the scene, Ferd responded.

Do you mean how many people died? the driver replied.

    Yeah.

"Well just say it then. Crissakes Ferd, why are you always
