Chapter 1: Creating Happier Workplaces Using Humanism and Science

Hi, I’m Jennifer Hancock. I am a Humanist, an author and founder of Humanist Learning Systems. I teach people applied humanism and applied science in combination.

In the workplace – this focuses on humanistic management, reality-based problem solving, and how to use philosophy and science to stop harassment, bullying, and retaliation in the workplace. In other words, how to create real behavioral change using philosophy and science. The cool thing about what I do is that the philosophy feeds the science – and the science validates the philosophy!

If we are going to create happier, more effective workplaces, we need to think differently about:

WHY we run our businesses the way that we do.

WHAT the role of management really is.

We also need to know HOW to make it happen via practical techniques and skills that will help us to better manage interpersonal relationships in the workplace.

Philosophy can help us with the WHY and the WHAT of workplace happiness. Science can provide us with the HOW.
