Compassion and Lovingkindness are essential in our practice. They are deep motivating forces to try to heal difficulties wherever we see them - in ourselves and, if possible, to help heal them in others. But we also need Wisdom - otherwise we will not know the true cause of difficulties or how to heal them.

And you can please all of the people some of the time.
But you cannot please all of the people all of the time.

Actually, no matter what posture you take, no matter how soft or comfortable the pillows or chairs or beds are, if you try to stay still for a certain amount of time, then unpleasant physical sensations will automatically arise in parts of your body.
* * *
Much of meditation/mental development practice is to learn when certain actions are appropriate and beneficial, and when they are not appropriate and beneficial.

Try to see that attachment causes the stress and suffering in the mind, and that the experience and awareness of the experience are different - not the same.
* * *
We need to open to see the results of the forces of conditioning in our mind - to open to the difficulties some of this creates for ourselves. With compassionate understanding we can transform ourselves and grow.

How important do our worry themes and dreams seem when faced with the possibility of death in the next moment, hour or day?

Clear Comprehension, understanding the suitability of actions, speech and thoughts, protects us from present or future difficulties and sorrow.
* * *
Has it ever happened to you that you bought something thinking it was one thing and later discovered it was not what you thought it was? How often are your perceptions, views and opinions about things not correct?
* * *
Work hard but beware of idealistic practice that is aggressive. Unbalanced idealism leads to self-hatred, unworthiness and self-pity. Try to remember that we undertake the inner journey through compassion for ourselves and the world - to give, not to get.
