ARAFURA PATROL VESSELS DOWN UNDER
RAN
The Australian Government’s A$90 billion National Shipbuilding Programme reached another milestone on 9 April with the ceremonial keel laying of the future HMAS Eyre, the second of two Arafura class Offshore Patrol Vessels being built by ASC Shipbuilding at the Osborne Naval Shipyard. Once work on the pair is completed in 2023, the Adelaide shipyard will commence construction of the Hunter class (Type 26) frigate programme.
The other ten vessels are to be built at Civmec’s facility
