About this ebook

Middle school is back in session and so is the New York Times bestselling series that's been brightening the funny papers for almost 30 years! Ready or not, some major laughs are due in Big Nate: The Gerbil Ate My Homework.

You’ve got to know where you stand to survive sixth grade, and Nate Wright’s found the perfect spot: right next to Sherman, the class gerbil. Can Nate’s furry friend bail him out of his latest homework jam with Mrs. Godfrey? Or will there be a paper trail leading straight to detention? Nate has no answers, but plenty of ideas—like directing a superhero movie starring the amazing Mega-Chad, inventing a new name for his pal Francis, and living up to his reputation as a P.S. 38 Prank Day legend.

Special final exam bonus question: Does Nate makes it to summer vacation? Find out in this collection of uproarious Big Nate comics! Middle school has never been funnier!

Author

Lincoln Peirce

Lincoln Peirce (pronounced "purse") is a cartoonist/writer and New York Times bestselling author of the hilarious Big Nate book series (www.bignatebooks.com), now published in twenty-five countries worldwide and available as ebooks and audiobooks and as an app, Big Nate: Comix by U! He is also the creator of the comic strip Big Nate. It appears in over three hundred U.S. newspapers and online daily at www.gocomics.com/bignate. Lincoln's boyhood idol was Charles Schulz of Peanuts fame, but his main inspiration for Big Nate has always been his own experience as a sixth grader. Just like Nate, Lincoln loves comics, ice hockey, and Cheez Doodles (and dislikes cats, figure skating, and egg salad). His Big Nate books have been featured on Good Morning America and in the Boston Globe, the Los Angeles Times, USA Today, and the Washington Post. He has also written for Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. Lincoln lives with his wife and two children in Portland, Maine.

Amazon Product Description:Big Nate, a.k.a. middle schooler Nate Wright, is eleven years old, four-and-a-half feet tall, and the wunderkind creation of cartoonist Lincoln Peirce. Nate is also the star of six novelized books to be published by HarperCollins, the first of which debuted on the New York Times children's best-seller list. This Big Nate Collection collects Peirce's Big Nate strips, originally published only in newspapers. For those not familiar with Big Nate, think Diary of a Wimpy Kid meets Calvin and Hobbes. Nate is a self-described genius and a sixth-grade Renaissance man equipped with only a #2 pencil and the unshakable belief that he is destined for greatness (a fortune cookie told him so). He fights a daily battle against overzealous teachers, undercooked cafeteria food, and all-around conventionality. He's the original rebel without a clue, alternately abrasive and endearing to classmates and teachers alike. Throughout Peirce's Big Nate Collection, Nate blazes an unforgettable trail through the sixth grade at P.S. 38, earning straight As in laughs (and numerous detentions) along the way. This is the third book I have read about Nate and his adventures. This is a funny and entertaining series. It has appeal for fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid and parents will feel better about Nate than they do Greg. Nate is a lovable and redeeming character. I like Greg Hefley, but as a parent, he is certainly not someone I would want my child to hang out with.A must for any library's graphic novel collection.Recommended for 3rd Grade and up.Mrs. Archer's rating: 5 of 5.

One of my students caught me reading this and they were SOOO excited to see a teacher reading the same stuff THEY read. So, I decided to take the opportunity to ask a few students why they enjoy Big Nate. I was met with blank stares. "Well...ummmm..." Me: If you don't like it, why do you read it?Her: Because it's fast. We get more points for more books, so we can get quick points. Her fellow students: *nods and murmurs of agreement*Ah. That makes so much sense.
