About this ebook
Zara barely remembers what it is to be human. Captured by humanity's alien enemy at the tender age of four and raised by Bug-Eye scientists as a research specimen, everything Zara knows has been filtered through her captors. Everything except the information on an electronic device (a remnant of her lost colony) that her keepers allowed her to play with in order to comfort the terrified child. But Zara is no longer a child, and she's about to have her first encounter with another human. Will she recognize her own, or will she continue to do as her captors command?

Iam a worm; the property of the Tse-Tsunxhanaga queen.
My people, the grotesque and rebellious humans of Earth and its feeble colonies, call the noble Tse-Tsunxhanaga hive Bug-Eyes. This detestable name came about because the insipid human vocal apparatus is unable to adequately pronounce the sublime clicks, hums, and sub-vocal stops of the elegant Tse-Tsunxhanaga language; also because the hive’s superior exoskeleton bears a superficial resemblance to an ancient Earth insect: the cockroach.
My name is Zara. I am a human female. I was taken captive by the hive when my human colony was destroyed by the noble Tse-Tsunxhanaga. I was four earth-years old at the time. I have no idea of my current age, although I believe I have reached sexual maturity. I have not seen the open sky since the day I was taken. I am the property of Queen Tsetseg and am an object of study in her Royal Academy of Science. It is hoped that someday I will be capable of acting as an interpreter for the queen. However, my vulgar and inadequate vocal apparatus render this hope unlikely. While I understand the language of the hive, I am incapable of speaking it in any form fit for presentation to a
