I consider my friend Jenny Hrbacek one of the reasons I can call myself a cancer survivor, having had extensive treatment and recovery from HER2 triple-negative breast cancer.

I first met Jenny at a Survivors Offering Support (SOS) meeting. I had just been through the traditional medical treatment regime of discovering breast cancer through a biopsy, which led to chemo, then double-mastectomy surgery with reconstruction, followed by six weeks of radiation. My cancer journey began with my annual mammogram, which led to a sonogram, an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), a biopsy, and finally the diagnosis: triple-negative, stage I. Stage I—good; triple-negative—not so good. It was rare and very aggressive, the doctor said.

My mom had gone through cancer seven years before, so I somewhat knew what would be in store for me.

I had the bilateral mastectomy surgery, and during my six-week recovery I found out Jenny Hrbacek had also been diagnosed with breast cancer and had the same surgery by my doctor and plastic surgeon. I had known Jenny and her husband through my work. Five weeks after my surgery I went to see Jenny, and that visit started our very special, friendship-filled, faith-filled, fight-filled, and even a little fun-filled walk together. I am so thankful I had Jenny on my cancer journey. (My husband called us bosom buddies!)

One day Jenny and I attended a cancer support group together, and I was overwhelmed and actually astonished to hear how many women in the room were there with a second or even third recurrence. There were only about five or six out of fifty women there who were going through cancer for the first time. After the meeting several of us talked in the parking lot. I decided that I was not coming back because this was not the support I needed.

I also remembered finishing my treatment and my doctor saying I could go back to my normal life. Depression set in because I felt my normal life had resulted in cancer.

I remember Jenny bringing me a book one day, Beating Cancer With Nutrition. She was so excited! She told me, This book empowers us! It’s not just words but what we have to do.

I joined Jenny in visiting Dr. Ray in Rowlett, Texas. I took the Greek test and have been retested as well. Over the past three years, I have been stable and considered in remission. At my last oncologist visit my numbers were better than ever! I continue to fight the fight with my changed diet, exercise, and supplements, as well as reducing my stress level. It’s not always easy, and I’m definitely not perfect, but I do want my body and immune system to be strong enough to fight the cancer cells.

The doctor told me I had stage IV cancer that had metastasized from my breast to my bones and down my vertebrae to my ribs and into my pelvic and pubic areas, and even into some of my organs and lymph nodes. AWORLD WITHOUT CANCER is possible. I collaborated for many years with Dr. Tsuneo Kobayashi in Japan. He is a molecular biologist who has shown us how, with early detection of cancer, the world could be nearly cancer-free. Many years ago Dr. Kobayashi realized the imaging method of detection was too coarse to detect tumors until they were well established. He achieved a major breakthrough in developing a new marker system that grades your cancer outlook on a scale of one to five. His rating of five is the equivalent to what in the United States is typically called a stage I cancer. In other words, when you top out on the Kobayashi scale, your problem is just now visible for the first time in the American system.

Dr. Kobayashi’s patients undergo his annual cancer test, not because the doctor is trolling for business: Aha! A lump—sign this person up for chemotherapy and radiation. Ka-ching! No, Dr. Kobayashi wants his patients to avoid getting to that point.

Many of the tests described in this book are built on the foundation laid out by Dr. Kobayashi, and some of them are just as capable now of that kind of early detection. Early detection means you have to use the new tests Jenny Hrbacek describes in this book. She has done a marvelous, unparalleled job of finding and describing them. Your oncologist is most likely not able to tell you what Jenny tells you. Knowledge is expanding so rapidly that most doctors are unaware of the new tests.

After you have read Jenny’s book and you move forward and use an early detection test, do not take the test to your oncologist, who may do harm to you with overly aggressive treatment. Early detection should not be used as a means to shuttle people into surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Most doctors don’t know to offer much more than the standard toxic sixty-year-old therapies. Let Jenny tell you how to obtain personalized treatment that is proven to be more effective than the standard cookie-cutter treatment most cancer patients are told about.

Everyone who has been told his or her cancer has been treated needs to understand that cancer is seldom cured with standard therapies. Only by utilizing the tests Jenny describes will you be aware if your cancer is coming back while it is easier to treat.

Cancer cells and precancerous cells are so common that everyone, by middle age or old age, has them. If we have a strong immune system, we will have no problem because those cancer cells will be disposed of every day. But if our immune systems don’t work right, we can have problems.

And even then some of those cancers will go away on their own without any interference from modern medicine. As some researchers have said, it’s interesting to know why we get cancer, but it is far more interesting to know why we don’t get cancer!

The hero scientist who defeats cancer will likely never exist. Cancer is an intricate, potentially lethal collaboration of genes gone awry, of growth inhibitors gone missing, of hormones and epigenomes changing, of altered cellular respiration, and of rogue cells breaking free. Our world is full of heavy metals, devitalized foods, fungal infections, pollutants, endocrine-disrupting chemicals, carcinogens, and more factors that encourage cancer.

We must learn how to live cancer-free through the use of old-fashioned nutrition, targeted supplements, and therapeutic modalities such as homeopathy, acupuncture, microcurrent, lasers, pulsed electromagnetic fields, craniosacral therapy, and stress-reduction techniques.
