classic from 2009, ’s debut album, (Nordvis) , is well worth a second listen. The Swedish miscreants’ wild, venomous sound blends scabrous black metal with eerie keys, a smattering of balls-out hard rock’ debut, (Nuclear War Now!) , has dated well, its mixture of second-wave BM fury, folk-tinged grandeur and acoustic interludes echoing the likes of Windir and Skyforger while sounding furiously dedicated to old-school ethics. Although routinely overlooked and underrated, were always the Bay Area’s sharpest technicians. Their first two albums are widely revered as classics, but 2009’s (Mascot) slipped through the cracks and thoroughly deserves this 10th anniversary reissue. If you enjoy thunderous, technical thrash with massive balls and a crunchy modern production, get stuck in.
