Ooh La Ladurée
OOK AROUND Beverly Hills and you’ll see why the city gets its reputation as the epicenter of luxury. Its palm tree-lined streets are hugged by opulent estates, swanky hotels, fancy cars, and high-end retail stores touting brands such as Cartier, Christian Dior, and Valentino. And just a stone’s throw from Rodeo Drive—the most famous shopping street in the world—sits an upscale bakery named Ladurée. One of the top French establishments since it opened in Paris in 1862, Ladurée is famous for inventing the double-decker macaron—traditionally made with almonds and egg whites to create outer shells of airy meringue, and then filled with flavored creams, jams, and ganaches. The iconic pâtisserie has since grown to become a world-famous brand with 86 locations in cities from Dublin to Dubai. Its show-stopping confections were in 2006, and Jessica Alba, Martha Stewart, and Meghan Markle are just a few of its celebrity fans.
