Etsuko Shimabukuro , age 54, studied archeology and computer science, and once practised as an ascetic mountain priest. For a week she ran through the Sahara Desert in Morocco and trekked 7,500 km in Japan. Today she works as a chef in Mexico while she prepares for a no-return visit to Mars.
