Questionings to Christian Metaphysics of Conny Mendez
()
About this ebook
The term metaphysics comes from the Greek and means beyond physics. It constitutes a branch of philosophy that tries to go beyond the visible reality, in order to understand the mysteries that transcend the human cognitive abilities, incorporating the enigmas related to the origin, purpose and destiny of humanity.
However, the Christian metaphysics of Conny Mendez is not consistent with the transcendental purpose of metaphysics (going further to understand the great existential mysteries) and is more a method of self-help than a valid philosophical discipline.
In addition, the Christian metaphysics is based on esoteric, Gnostic and Hermetic principles of the New Age (incompatible with Christianity), and even rejects some Christian foundations (God is not the judge of humanity, Jesus isn ́t God nor the Savior, etc.) and the Judeo-Christian notion of sin.
Therefore, this Christian metaphysics, also called dynamic Christianity, is questionable and easy to reject because it isn ́t metaphysic and neither is Christian.

I. INTRODUCTION
Juana María de la Concepción Méndez Guzmán, (1898-1979), known as Conny Mendez and founder of the Movement of Christian Metaphysics of Venezuela (1946), was a Venezuelan actress, director and producer of plays, singer, caricaturist, columnist, composer, essayist, writer and poet, exponent of the Venezuelan folklore, and supporter of esotericism and the New Age. In addition, she was a disciple of the Irish Reverend Emmet Fox (1886-1951), who wrote several books of Christian esotericism and is considered one of the most influential spiritual authors of the first decades of the 20th century.
For her artistic, cultural and humanitarian works (which included tours inside and outside of Venezuela), she received three decorations as exemplary citizen: a) Diploma and Golden Button Cuatricentenario (1967), b) Diploma and Medal of the Good Citizen (1968), and c) Order of Diego de Losada in 2nd Class (1976).
She also published some books, including the best-sellers: a) Memorias de una Loca, and b) Metafísica al Alcance de Todos; being widely known in Latin America as the promoter of the Christian metaphysics.
The purpose of this literary work is to analyze the Christian metaphysics, from the perspective of Christianity, looking for answers to these questions:
1. What is metaphysics?
2. Why is Christianity not compatible with the New Age?
3. How is the Christian metaphysics of Conny Mendez?
4. Why is the Christian metaphysics of Conny Mendez questionable and even easy to reject?
In this regard, this text is divided into the following chapters:
a) II. Metaphysics, presenting a brief historical synthesis of its origin and evolution, and indicating what its transcendental purpose is,
b) III. The Conflict between Christianity and New Age, explaining the great ideological contradictions of both extremes of the religious thought,
c) IV. The Christian Metaphysics of Conny Mendez, evaluating its foundations
