f you’ve been patient enough to come along for the ride during my late-in-life circuit-racing apprenticeship, you might recall that I had the debut from hell in season one, with three blown engines and a crash, finishing almost last in the championship. Season two was better from a reliability perspective, but without the variable-valve-timing system (VVT) working almost all season long, I was down on power and struggling in the mid pack until finally, just before the last race of the season, we discovered the problem, got all of my 160hp working (yeah, I know, pathetic, right?!), and started racing closer towards the front of the pack.
