Dealing with Stress

So I am an on-timer, I don’t like being late, it stresses me out. To combat this I make sure my articles are finished about two weeks from the due date and ironically on this article time has somehow slipped away from me and I am only seven days away from deadline.

I say ironically because this article is all about stress. Those of you who have read my column over the years may have noticed that in every article stress features on some level - in every condition, injury, or over training disorder it has played a part in worsening it or reducing the road to recovery.

So stress is a big deal and we as runners love the adrenaline rush that a good run can give us and for better or for worse it is what drives our system to push that bit further, dig that bit deeper and it gets us there, to the finish line, the PB, the podium.

Running is beneficial to our overall health but every time we hit the trails we are putting our body under stress and there is a fine line between the stress release running can give and the stress-inducing strain pushing it for too long can create.
