    Mixolydian b 6 is a mode of the Melodic Minor scale. Melodic Minor has the intervals 1-2- b 3-4-5-6-7; essentially a Major scale with a b 3rd. It has a jazzier sound than many modes and can open up interesting pathways. As with any scale, Melodic Minor can have a mode built from each degree. Today we look at a mode of D Melodic Minor with notes: D-E-F-G-A-B-C#. If we start from the 5th degree it gives
