- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I received a paperback edition of this book from the publisher through a GoodReads giveaway and the following is my honest opinion. Parents are always looking for ways to educate their young children about the world around them, and one of these areas concern farm animals. With the myriad of books available on this subject, one can simply lose their minds in trying to find the best one; one which their child could easily understand, one which didn’t have long boring paragraphs which could lose the attention span of its young readers, one which had pictures which would add to their understanding of what they’re reading. This book, which Animal Planet played a role in producing, I feel is the quintessential book on this subject. The information presented here has been done in a manner so as to entice its young readers to grasp the facts regarding each animal in bite-size tidbits until the entire picture of the animal has been mentally ingested and understood. While this book is available as a KINDLE, I feel a young child would be best served by reading a physical copy of this book. Remember how you felt each time as a child when you read a real book in your hands, instead of a cold electronic one.In the end there’s no reason I can this book anything else than 5 STARS.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book is exactly as the series says, Animal Bites. There are so many facts in this book that something is going to draw in any reader. This book describes many aspects of Farm Life. With the majority of people living in cities, this is a great way for kids to learn about farm animals, life on the farm, working farms, showing animals at fairs, petting zoos etcetera. It talks about habitats, adaptations, family life and more. The photos in this book are amazing. They are so close you feel like you can touch the animals. The special sections on the side that include cool animal facts, simple infographics, and illustrated maps of Earth and where various animals live, the "just like me" sections etc. are sure to invite discussion and further investigation. I loved the section on "odd couples" showing different animals that are inseparable but of different species. The back of the book that includes farm activities, further resources and an extensive Glossary. I love that a portion of the proceeds will benefit Animal Planet's R.O.A.R. (Reach Out. Act. Respond.) project which partners with leading animal organization to make the world a better place for domestic and wild animals.
This book would be a great addition to a school or class library, especially those learning about life on a farm, where things come from, as well as farming jobs.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
