VITAMIN GUMMIES: WATCH INTAKE

What began as a children’s craze has spread to adult nutrition regimens as well: fruit-flavoured gummy vitamins have taken over the market, from daily necessities found that to replicate the amount of vitamin C you’d receive in one Nature Made 1,000 milligram pill, you’d have to take eight Nature Made gummy vitamins – at around 1g of sugar each. “The biggest issue with taking these vitamins is inadvertently increasing your sugar intake,” says Professor Harry McArdle of the University of Aberdeen. Dental health from such chewy sugar is also a concern, as are the lower levels of actual vitamins in the gummy forms.
