What makes a great garden? Many factors are involved, but what is essential is that such a garden is unique and that it relates to its location in a meaningful way. When Alan Kennedy bought The Old Rectory in Northamptonshire in 2012, he could immediately see its potential and set about transforming its three plain acres of lawn into something great. As he recalls: “The scale of it gave us opportunities to keep it interesting and a chance to include a range of ideas.”
