    Introduction

Perhaps it would be true to argue that Time Management is a misnomer. In the real sense, we cannot manage time. What we can do is to manage events in our lives based on time. Oftentimes, we find ourselves wishing that we had more than 24 hours each day. The way we use this time depends on the skills we have acquired through either planning, self-analysis, self-control or evaluation.

Just like money, time is a valuable resource. It is limited and therefore, it has to be preserved and utilized wisely. Individuals who exercise proper time management are usually more productive, less stressed, and that they relate positively with those around them. In fact, they often feel good about themselves since they can actually get things done.

Interestingly, if you gain better control of time, you also control the direction your life will take. Managing your time effectively will not only help you get work done promptly, but it also ensures that you achieve your set goals and maintain balance in your life.

Oftentimes, people confuse productivity with the notion of getting more projects done within the shortest amount of time possible. Doing many things within a day doesn’t necessarily mean that one is productive. Basically, productivity can be understood as a way of getting things done with minimal effort. Of course, if you are getting things done in less time, then you are also being productive.

Folks tend to assume that those who are always busy are very productive. However, this is not the case. Living a busy life doesn’t mean that you are productive. Unfortunately, this perception causes folks to admire individuals who are simply busy. What they fail to understand is that a busy person isn’t necessarily a more productive individual. An interesting characteristic of someone who is busy is that they will always be in a rush to beat deadlines. Also, it is quite likely that they will have a giant pile of tasks that are behind schedule. Therefore, as you can see, being busy doesn’t imply higher productivity. Before you make assumptions that you need to keep yourself busy in order to streamline your life, think again.

Managing time effectively is of great importance. This is something that cannot be recovered once it’s lost. When you have daily goals to achieve, you should understand that you only have 24 hours to achieve them. At times, you may fail to meet these goals, but the most important thing is that you tried to make the most out of the time you had. The idea here is to work smarter toward achieving your goals.

There are many reasons why you would want to boost your productivity at work. Perhaps you are trying to have more time to spend with family and friends. It could also be that you want to have additional free time for yourself. Undeniably, we all have personal demands that need our attention. Without appropriate time management, we find ourselves lost in our busy schedules. Funny enough, our busy schedules never seem to come to an end. Consequently, we find it difficult to find time for taking care of other activities. This can lead to frustration, because we are never satisfied with what we are doing.

Before getting into the details concerning productivity, you need to sit down and
