    Connell had always been fascinated by wolves, both real and mythological, so becoming a K9 handler with the police seemed a logical career choice. But after working on the beat for twenty years and still not managing to secure one of the coveted team positions, Connell left the force and jumped at the chance to join Silverdale Security's K9 squad and quickly found himself partnered with a very large dog named Quiell.  He'd loved every minute of the last five years spent working for the company, except Connell wished he'd didn't have to leave Quiell behind at the end of every day.

    But then his whole world shifted sideways as the reason for Quiell's large size was revealed… Quiell was not a dog. He was wolf…a werewolf?

    And it should have frightened Connell.

    Yet how could it? Quiell was gorgeous.

    Quiellim had worked for Silverdale Security since the conception of its K9 division almost sixty years ago. At first his partners had been dhampyres, allowing him to shift between forms whenever necessary. But for the last twenty years his partners had been human, restricting him to wolf form when on duty and yet that had never worried Quiellim. Never felt the need to shift, no matter how annoying the humans need to treat him like a dog were. Never felt the need to protect his partner at the expense of the mission…at the possible expense of another's life, until Connell. Once and only once he'd shifted showing the man his true self, but then swore he'd never do it again. No matter how many times Connell begged him to.

    But as the hunt for the Timere Lucen leads them deep into enemy territory, Quiellim's decision to remain in wolf form around Connell, might endanger them both.
