INTRODUCTION
The word learning
is used almost daily when it comes to discussing education at all levels. Learning is also considered in the other aspects of our lives such as on the job, how to survive and get along with people, new technologies and much more.
We learn as we walk, as we speak, as we observe things around us. Intentionally or unintentionally, humans learn throughout our entire life.
In fact, most educational researchers agree that learning has a deeper meaning than simple information recall and memorization. When it comes to long-lasting and deep learning, it involves making various connections, relating different ideas and normally starts with understanding a specific topic or pertinent information that drives us to want to know more.
When you learn, you also need to make connections between your new and your prior knowledge. You must focus on both critical and independent thinking and you must boost your ability to transfer that knowledge to new, very different contexts.
Learning is an amazing process. When new information is introduced, it leads to an expansion of experience and knowledge. Because of this, your future seems broader and the potential for a more amplified performance in the future appears possible.
In fact, those changes occurring in the learner happen at different levels including his or her behavior, knowledge or attitude affecting different areas of his or her life.
As individuals so through the process of learning, they gain new insights and can grasp new ideas, concepts, and cultures. People of all ages and social status continue to learn as part of living and interacting with others. A student enrolled in school or college must devote most of their time to their studies and education. This is something that is intentionally done.
A student’s learning is that direct result of how they apply themselves and interpret different things. The method they use to incorporate the new knowledge with their previous experiences makes their learning experience unique.
As information and content may vary, as well as the educator’s interpretation of both, it should be noted that there are some fundamental differences from one university course to another in what and how students learn.
On the other hand, regardless of the students’ field of study, they have enormous opportunities offered to them. They are challenged to develop and enhance a deeper level of thinking for themselves. Given their proximity to other students learning the same things, new ideas can take shape and they can practice their thinking processes and expand their intellectual skills. These skills include abilities such as scientific inquiry, problem-solving, values, attitudes, motor skills and others that become as important to them as selecting a certain field of study. All the skills combined help to prepare them for
