    Beautiful patterns i actually want to knit. Took off one star because the instructions could be better. Many of these patterns are marked as beginner-friendly, but i think a beginner would struggle with the lack of direction. Also, all charts. I hate charts.

Airy Sweater

This light sweater is the perfect cover-up for a cool summer night. The soft blue color of the yarn adds to the airy feeling of the sweater. Wear it with pastel pants to amplify the fresh look of the sweater.

block 4 [4, 5, 5, 6] balls Phildar Phil Mohair Soie (70% mohair and 30% silk) in color 1370 Givre

block 5.5mm (US 9, UK 5) needles

block 6mm (US 10, UK 4) needles

STITCHES USED

block 1/1 rib stitch

block Stockinette stitch (St st)

GAUGE

4 in. (10cm) of St, double strands of yarn with 6mm (US 10, UK 4) needles = 14.5 sts and 24 rows.

Directions

BACK

Cast on 80 [86, 94, 104, 112] sts with 5.5mm (US 9, UK 5) needles, double strands of yarn, work in 1/1 rib stitch for 2 ¾ in. (7cm).

Continue in St st with 6mm (US 10, UK 4) needles.

At 13 ½ in. (34cm) up the sides, mark the border stitches with colored yarn to identify the armholes.

At 20 ½ [21, 21 ¼, 21 ½, 22] in. (52 [53, 54, 55, 56] cm) up the sides, shape the shoulders by binding off on each side every 2 rows: 10 x 2 sts and 1 x 3 sts [8 x 2 sts and 3 x 3 sts; 4 x 2 sts and 7 x 3 sts; 10 x 3 sts and 1 x 4 sts; 6 x 3 sts and 5 x 4 sts].

At a length of 22 ¾ [23 ¼, 23 ½, 24, 24 ½] in. (58 [59, 60, 61, 62] cm) up the sides, shape the neckline by binding off the 14 [16, 16, 16, 16] central sts and then continue one side at a time by binding off the neckline side, 2 rows higher: 1 x 10 sts.

Finish the second side of the neckline.

FRONT

Cast on 80 [86, 94, 104, 112] sts with 5.5mm (US 9, UK 5) needles, double strands of yarn, work in 1/1 rib stitch for 2 ¾ in. (7cm).

Continue in St st with 6mm (US 10, UK 4) needles.

At 10 ¼ in. (26cm) up the sides, mark the border stitches with a colored yarn to identify the armholes.

At 16 ½ [17, 17 ¼, 17 ¾, 18 ¼] in. (42 [43, 44, 45, 46] cm) up the sides, shape the neckline by binding off the 12 [14, 14, 14, 14] central sts, then continue one side at a time by binding off the neckline side every 2 rows: 1 x 3 sts, 2 x 2 sts, 1 x 1 sts every 4 rows: 3 x 1 sts.

At 17 ¼ [17 ¾, 18 ¼, 18 ½, 19] in. (44 [45, 46, 47, 48] cm) up the sides, shape the shoulder by binding off the sleeve side every 2 rows: 10 x 2 sts and 1 x 3 sts (8 x 2 sts and 3 x 3 sts; 4 x 2 sts and 7 x 3 sts; 10 x 3 sts and 1 x 4 sts; 6 x 3 sts and 5 x 4 sts].

Finish the second side of the neckline.

SLEEVE

Cast on 40 [42, 46, 48, 52] sts with 5.5mm (US 9, UK 5) needles, double strands of yarn, work in 1/1 rib stitch for 2 ¾ in. (7cm).

Continue in St st with 6mm (US 10, UK 4) needles, working each side 2 sts from the edges every 14 rows: 6 x 1 incs (every 12 rows: 7 x 1 inc; every 14 rows: 5 x 1 inc and 12 rows higher: 1 x 1 inc; every 12 rows: 6 x 1 inc and 10 rows higher: 1 x 1 inc; every 14 rows: 2 x 1 inc and every 12 rows: 4 x 1 inc).

You have 52 [56, 58, 62, 64] sts.

At 16 ¼ [15 ¾, 15 ½, 15, 14 ½] in. (41 [40, 39, 38, 37] cm) up the sides, bind off the sts gently.

Work the second sleeve in the same way.

NECKLINE BAND

Cast on 102 [106, 106, 106, 106] sts with 5.5mm (US 9, UK 5) needles, double strands of yarn, work in 1/1 rib stitch for 1 in. (2.5cm), then make 1 p row on the front and a few rows of St st of another color.

Iron these rows; it will be enough to unravel them at the time of assembly to find the base color.

ASSEMBLY AND FINISHING

Sew the shoulder seams.

Attach the sleeves to the armholes between the colored yarns.

Sew the side seams until it reaches the front St st (slit on the sides, see photo left).

Sew the seams of the sleeves.

Sew the neckline band, matching st by st, with backstitches on the reverse side of the project.

Unravel different color rows.

Slanted Jacket

The slanted lines on this jacket lend it a unique look. Pull on this sweater for a weekend getaway or shopping trip. It looks great when paired with a neutral, monochromatic outfit and dark boots.
