The Monkey & The Wedge
It but unwise to poke your nose be,
In affairs not concerning you truly.
A merchant was building clearly,
A temple in his garden eagerly,
Masons, carpenters working be,
For the merchant but adequately.
For lunch, work stopped daily,
They went to town regularly,
Once when they so gone be,
Arrived a host of monkeys.
They fooled around innocently,
With what caught their fancy,
One saw a log laying actually,
Which was but sawed partially.
A wedge was inserted clearly,
So it did not close completely,
And wanting wedge playfully,
The monkey tugged furiously.
The wedge came off suddenly,
Trapping legs of the monkey,
As his legs but unable to free,
That monkey died in misery.
Karataka: "It unwise to poke surely,
In affairs not concerning us truly,
We have food but stored amply,
Why bother of King needlessly?"
Damanaka retorted, "Food not be,
Center of our life unquestionably,
Wise say seek king’s help clearly,
To help friends, harm foes actually.
In life learning, courage, wealth be,
The objective but unquestionably,
If just living the goal but be only,
Crows live but scavenging daily".
Karataka: "We not his ministers be,
Wise say dim-witted person but only,
Ever offers uncalled advice eagerly,
To king, inviting insult and foolish be".
Damanaka: "They earn favour truly,
Who serve the King devotedly,
Remain not where they be,
But they do ever rise steadily.
They rise who know in actuality,
When king is generous or angry,
It is the best to be unfailingly,
In good books of the king surely."
Karataka, Okay, what to do tell me
,
Damanaka: "King is scared clearly,
Ask cause, use six ways of diplomacy",
Karataka: You certain king scared be?
Damanaka: "Change in pose showing be,
Also signs, pace, action, talk clearly,
Looks and expression indicate be,
Tthe working of the mind surely.

With my intelligence but evidently,
Dispelling his fear but absolutely,
So becoming his minister positively".
Karataka: "Can you do it actually,
This not services principles fully?"
Damanaka: "I know what but clearly,
Makes king’s loyal servant surely".
Karataka: "In that case unflinchingly,
I wish you all luck with sincerity".
Taking Karataka’s leave quickly,
Damanaka called on king humbly.
Seeing his old minister’s progeny,
The King ordered his sentry,
To present him unhesitatingly,
And Damanaka came promptly.
Damanaka paying respects fully,
Bowed low very modestly,
"We not seen you recently,
For some time" king said plainly.
"I know not of what service I can be,
Yet wise say, all high or low who be,
Be use to king, I beg indulgence truly,
For generations served, I beg Majesty."
"Competent or incompetent be,
You our old minister’s son truly,
What is in your mind, tell me",
The king commanded moodily.
"What made you return quickly,
May I ask you my lord humbly,
From river without drinking clearly"
Damanaka asked but reluctantly.
"Did you not hear but amply,
Frightening sounds roaring loudly?
So I wanted to depart swiftly,
From the banks but immediately.
Any animal that produces clearly,
Such load sounds ferociously,
Must be powerful assuredly
I fear so sought sanctuary."
Damanaka: "If sound problem be,
Sounds are misleading actually
May I state how jackal overcame fully"
King ordered "Let us hear jackal’s story.
The Loss of Friends

Amarasak king of Mahilaropyam be,
Ruling in south India anciently,
He had three witless sons sadly,
Who but caused endless worry.
Realizing his sons not interest be,
In learning with any true sincerely,
King summoned his ministers sadly,
And spoke to them despondently:
"As you known undoubtedly,
With my sons I am not happy,
Unborn, stillborn son better be,
Than a dimwit son certainly.
What good a barren cow does be;
A stupid son is a dishonour clearly,
How to make them succeed truly,
– I want sincere advice very eagerly."
One minister recommended finally,
Vishnu Sharman’s name saintly,
A great scholar who undoubtedly,
Enjoyed his disciples respect fully.
"He most competent person be,
To tutor your children assuredly,
Entrust them to his care wholly,
Very soon they will change truly.

And the king pleaded him intently,
"Venerable scholar, I implore truly,
On me please do take some pity.
Please train my sons completely,
Into scholars – I request earnestly,
I promise to make you subsequently,
The Lord of hundred villages surely."
Vishnu Sharman said to king softly,
"King, listen to my pledge gravely,
A hundred villages tempt not me,
For vending my learning certainly.
In 6 months if I do not actually,
Make scholars of your progeny,
You can change my name truly,
I will honour the same willingly."
The king handed his sons finally,
To Sage Vishnu’s care promptly,

As the children's guide clearly.
The Bullock & The Lion
The love for money unendingly,
Is the root of all evil unfailingly.
Long ago Vardhaman, a trader be,
Who lived in a south Indian city,
Resting one day it dawned clearly,
The world’s axis was but money.
That the more he had money,
More powerful he would be,
He thought all seek the amity,
Of rich - even his enemies.
The old persons can young be,
If they have riches abundantly,
And young become old sadly,
If not having wealth obviously.
Trade one of the six ways be,
That helps amass wealth surely,
So he thought and his logic be,
For his life ever but indisputably.
Mobilizing wares subsequently,
Vardhaman started on day lucky,
For selling them in Madhura city,
His own collected commodities.
He traveled in a cart merrily,
Adorned, drawn by two bulls be,
Bull Sanjivaka buckled sadly,
In a jungle near Jamuna clearly.
Instructing his servants gravely,
To care for the bullock sincerely,
The merchant pressed on eagerly,
Persisting on his journey doggedly.
Servants left the bull quickly,
After their master had left finally,
Joining him, they stated clearly,
That the bull died subsequently.
Yet bull Sanjivaka actually,
Had not perished in reality,
Feeding on fresh grass truly,
That grew in the forest amply.
He regained strength seedily,
Began exploring jungle merrily,
In high spirits danced clearly,
Sang with pleasure in ecstasy.
In that forest also living be,
King lion Pingalaka fierce truly,
Sanjivaka, who content be,
In jungle waltz, sang riotously.
Pingalaka, other animals be,
Drinking in Jamuna happily,
When they heard distinctly,
Bull’s frightening bellow clearly.
In panic, lion withdrew fully,
Into forest, lost completely,
Encircled by other animals be,
Of the jungle apprehensively.
Karataka and Damanaka be,
Two jackals - sensed dilemma truly,
They sons of two ministers be,
Dismissed by the king actually.
Damanaka inquire inquisitively,
What happened to lord?
softly,
Karataka "Why poke nose foolishly,
In affairs not concerning us truly?
Do you not know of that story,
Of that thoughtless monkey,
Who pulled wedge from log clearly,
Without any thought but unwisely?"
Damanaka, "It interesting be,
What you state so forcefully,
Why not clearly enlighten me,
The very fate of that monkey".
Karataka, "Listen, very attentively,
Contemplate, note thoughtfully",
And so commenced in actuality,
Narration of that monkey’s story.
The Jackal & The Drum
Knowing the actual truth far better be,
Than being lost in apprehension foolishly.
A hungry jackal sought food eagerly,
In an abandoned battlefield foolishly,
Hearing strange sounds but loudly,
Which he understood not totally.
Scared, he thought: "Run quickly,
Before that sound creator gets me,
After a while, he reasoned fully,
I must not run away so fearfully
.
"Let me inquire about sound fully,
And who but
