About this ebook

1685, Scottish Highlands

Cat Campbell knows all about Nathaniel Worthington, fifth Viscount of Lincolnshire. The determined Englishman is never far from Finlarig Castle, where his sisters train women to do more than read and write. And thanks to the fiery kiss they shared nearly a year ago he is never far from her thoughts. No one ever trained her how to forget an irresistible man.

Nathaniel knows he should keep his distance from the fierce Scottish lass, but when an urgent letter from Queen Catherine calls Cat to London, he can’t resist volunteering to escort her. The tension between the two has simmered for months, but the long journey in close quarters creates a raging wildfire that could burn them both.

Secrets of their past and the treachery lurking at court put both their future together and their very lives at risk.

Yay!! I was waiting on these two..I have to say Heather has become one of my grab as soon as it comes out author.. I hope you started from the very beginning of the series because you really need to to know who is how and how they affect the storyline. So we meet both Nathanial and Cat from the very beginning and they have a history of not liking each other. Cat is a scottish lass and hates the English for oh so many reasons and as you read the series you can understand her feeling. I loved Nate and couldn't wait for his story since I loved his sisters, I have to say that my favorite couple is still Scarlett and Aiden...My only issue was that we barely got to read about those two I kind of wanted to catch up with them a little bit more, but regardless this story is good..We have more secrets and issues with the court folks, since Cat and Nate had to go help the queen after being summoned and Cat represented the Rose's and you knew that would not have gone too well..I wont give you more just grab a copy and Enjoy!!Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions

Scottish warrior woman! This is my first read of a Campbell's series title. It won't be my last!1865 and the vivacious, Catroina Campbell healer and a Highland Rose (a group of women schooled to not only serve tea but defend themselves and others) is called to London by Queen Catherine regarding the illness of her husband Charles I.Nathaniel Worthington, fifth Viscount of Lincolnshire, and the bane of Cats life at the moment, handsome, sleek and oh so much the warrior will escort her. The sexual tension between the two is palpable. That tension increases in the journey towards London.Cat in the palace is another thing. Here she has to contend with the put downs and intrigue of the court, and in the process will learn some trying secrets that come close to destroying her.A warrior woman, with a heart of gold and a temper that ignites and flames all within its reach, neither Cat nor Whitehall Palace are ready for each other. As for Cat and Nat, that's a whole different question.I loved the opening scene and Cat's patience as she tracks the boar. I was charmed by Nat always trying to protect Cat and then finally understanding her need to be independent as he grows to trust her abilities. An endearing and lively historical Scottish Highlands read!An Entangled Publishing ARC via NetGalley (I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own)

The Wicked Viscount by Heather McCollumThe Campbells #3Nathaniel Worthington, brother to the women who set up the Highland Roses School in Scotland, is healed from his gunshot wound and escorting Cat Campbell to London at the bequest of the king’s wife. The story deals with their travel to London, finding out that the king has died, dealing with traitors, saving a few people and of course, falling in love. Cat and Nathaniel did not set out to find romance but it seemed to find them in spite of the fact that Cat is definitely not the woman Nathaniel should marry as she is not titled and English and she is unwilling to relinquish her heart to any man after seeing what pain love can bring someone who loses their spouse. This was a fun easy read that had historical basis (with the king’s death) and though perhaps not entirely believable an enjoyable way to spend the day. Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled-Amara for the ARC – This is my honest review. 4-5 Stars

*** 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 ****Cat (Catriona) Campbell is well aware of the Englishman, Nathaniel Worthington. They even shared a scorching kiss when he was delirious with fevers from a gunshot wound (previous book) – but he probably doesn’t even remember it. Cat has been part of The Highland Roses School since it began. She’s strong, intelligent and totally self-reliant, and she will never, ever fall in love – she’s seen what that does to a woman, and she wants no part of it.Nathaniel Worthington, Viscount Worthington, is out in the forest looking for the vexing, intoxicating and forbidden Cat Campbell. He has been sent to bring Cat back to Finlarig Castle where they have just received a missive from Queen Catherine. The Queen explains that King Charles is suddenly very ill and she believes he has been poisoned. She wants Nathaniel to escort Cat to London because she needs a healer as well as someone who can find the traitors involved if he has been poisoned. On the trip south, they become closer even though each is fighting the attraction. Cat has no intention of falling in love and Nathaniel isn’t free to marry as he pleases because of his nasty father’s will. He might risk it if it was only him, but it would affect his sisters as well, so he’ll have to follow the terms of the will. As we all know, the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and they both had intentions of being good – they just hadn’t reckoned with the strong attraction they feel for each other.Along the way, they learn that King Charles actually died before the missive requesting them even reached Scotland. They continue on to London and find that the tensions are high and there is even more intrigue, deceit, lies, and treason. Can they ferret out the traitors? When everybody’s secrets – including Nathaniel’s – are revealed, can either of them survive? Will they be the ones to end up being labeled as traitors? This was a fast-paced book and I enjoyed the story – but I don’t think I’d read it again. There were Title errors and other minor historical inaccuracies that I found distracting. For instance – they drank bourbon and played Whist before either was invented. The things that were wrong were so very easy to research that I can’t, in my own mind, make excuses for the author getting them wrong. And titles, address, etc, there is just no excuse for getting those wrong – they haven’t changed in hundreds of years. Learn them once and you have them for every book you write. Another thing that would keep me from reading it again is that I didn’t care for the resolution. I can’t tell you much more than that because of spoiling the story, but let’s just say that I thought Nathaniel lost too much and that a King and Queen could have certainly come up with a better solution than they did. Which reminds me – a King who has been managing court intrigue and deceit all of his life suddenly becomes stupid? I don’t buy that he would have reacted as he did to Nathaniel. Then, it appears that the main villains got away with no punishment. I don’t know – just not a satisfying end to me. Maybe we’ll learn, in the next book, that all has gone well for Nathaniel and that the villains got punished. So, the bottom line is – It was a nice story and I really liked Nathaniel and Cat – I’m glad I read it, but wouldn’t read it a second time.I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
