Episode Summary:
April is financial literacy month, and this is the last episode in the confident money series. I'm so excited to have Dominique Brown on the show today. He is incredibly brilliant and yet super down-to-earth. He and I are in a mastermind together where he shares all kinds of tips about finances, business, and money. In this episode, Dominique shares his story and how budgeting doesn’t have to be deprivation, but how important it is to have a plan to work towards your goal. We also talk about credit repair and more amazing financial information.
CLIFF NOTES
Get educated about money and finances, because you can’t help yourself or others without that education.
Have a spending plan or a budget. Write down what you want to accomplish and then plan for that.
Dominique talked about fixing credit with people and then moved on with financial planning and investing.
Don’t listen to credit myths like you can’t fix your credit on your own, changes happen instantly, and taking on more loans improves your score.
To fix your credit, create a specific goal like buying a home and then meet the goals to improve your score for that purpose.
Write down everything that is coming in and going out. Then pull your credit report and analyze what is negative.
It’s not always about deprivation, sometimes you just need to earn more money.
