Nathan Boyd, took on a new role August of 2017, he is the new Director of African American Student and Parent Services for South Bend Community School Corporation. As a former school administrator of 13 years, 2012 ISCA Principal of the Year, 2012 National Blue Ribbon of School Excellence Recipient, and 2016 Indiana Principal of the Year he prides himself on being a champion for children. Nathan Boyd attended Ball State University where he became a special education teacher later earning his masters and administrative license in 2008. Priding himself on providing students with more than just a rigours learning environment. He is innovative and inspires by fostering a culture of excellence among the school to best prepare students for their future. A few of his accomplishments: voted 2012 ISCA Principal of the Year, 2012 IUSB Distinguished Alumnus, 2012 Ball State Graduate of the Last Decade, traveled to Washington D.C. to receive a National Blue Ribbon of Excellence, and 2016 Indiana (State) Principal of the Year. While recognized on the floor of the United States Congress, the Honorable Jackie Walorski., shared: “Under Mr. Boyd's leadership, Grissom is providing students a positive, challenging, and academically-oriented learning environment with a focus on building knowledge, reinforcing values, and developing a strong sense of self-worth for every student.” “Good.
