Can you help me fight the fossils? Read more about Patreon here EVne.ws/patreon   Read today’s show notes on https://www.evnewsdaily.com   Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Friday 11th January 2019. It’s Martyn Lee here and I’ve been through every EV story I can find today, and picked out the ones I think you need to know about.   Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   Welcome to a new Producer of the podcast DAVID MC GUINNESS thank you being part of the Patreon family.   VOLKSWAGEN ALLOWS E-GOLF BUYERS TO ASSEMBLE THEIR OWN CARS "Volkswagen will let you experience putting an actual car together. And not just any car — your car. At least, if you’ve ordered an all-electric e-Golf." reports Domenick Yoney for InsideEVs.com: "The German automaker has created this unique opportunity at its famous electric-mobility-centered “Transparent Factory” in Dresden. Customers will be able to participate in their vehicle’s assembly at four different stations. They’ll be able to watch the “marriage,” the joining together of body and drivetrain. With adult supervision, they’ll also get to perform some of the tasks usually done by factory workers. There is a charge of 390 euros ($447) for the experience."   https://insideevs.com/volkswagen-e-golf-buyers-assemble-cars/   FE DRIVERS EXPECT MORE ATTACK MODE OVERTAKING "Several ABB FIA Formula E drivers are expecting the championship's attack mode to produce more overtaking at this weekend's Marrakech E-Prix due to the placement of the activation zone." according to Alex for Motorsport.com: "The Mario Kart-inspired system was used for the first time at the season-opening race in Saudi Arabia, but the activation zone at the Ad Diriyah track had to be moved after criticism from the drivers. That setting was close to a wall on the inside of tight right-hander, whereas the activation placement in Marrakech is on the outside of the long left-hand Turn 3 and goes more naturally away from the racing line. Virgin Racing's Sam Bird reckons activating the system will mean drivers can put the higher power on offer to immediate use as a result of the zone's place on the track."   https://www.motorsport.com/formula-e/news/marrakech-attack-mode-more-overtaking/4322458/   TESLA MODEL 3 GETS ON BOARD THE BOAT FOR EUROPE "A massive number of Tesla Model 3 vehicles have been spotted being gathered by the automaker at the San Francisco port ahead initial oversea deliveries." says Fred at Electrek: "The shipment looks to mostly, if not entirely, consist of Model 3 vehicles and it would be the first important shipment to go overseas. It is estimated to easily be over 1,000 units. While the shipment is most likely going to Europe, it could also be going to China, where Tesla has also been taking orders from reservation holders for over a month and recently opened orders to everyone. If it’s indeed going to Europe, Tesla could still be gathering vehicles at the port in order to ship out even more vehicles. According to the port company that handles vehicle unloading at the port of Zeebrugge, Belgium, they plan to handle 3,000 Model 3’s per week coming to Europe starting next month. Transit time by boat between San Francisco and Zeebrugge can take between 2 and 5 weeks."   https://electrek.co/2019/01/11/tesla-model-3-shipment-oversea-deliveries/   Plus notes on ...   NEW ECOTRICITY RAPID CHARGER AT OXFORD SERVICES   FIRST DAY OF WEEKEND TESLA   COMMUNITY And thanks to MYEV.com they’ve set us another Question Of The Week.
