    Stand by Your Man

    Description

JULIANNA ALMOST HAS it all. She is a successful literary agent that has clients on bestseller lists and rents a gorgeous apartment in upscale Manhattan. The only thing she is missing is love. Her childhood friend Antonio has always made it clear that he has feelings for her but it has never been the right time. Now Julianna is worried that she might be too late; as she heads home she decides to make her feelings known.

When Julianna finally meets up with Antonio, he’s different. The happy-go-lucky man is very stressed out with his new job. There are other things that concern Julianna, including local gossip that the man who’s wanted her for so long might actually be involved with organized crime.

Can Julianna look past Antonio’s new life? Or will she become ensnared in his dangerous world and put everything she’s worked so hard to build at risk?

    Chapter 1

JULIANNA LOOKED OUT the window of her office which overlooked the upper east side of Manhattan and marveled how something so manmade could be so beautiful. It was Friday and the literary agency that she worked for was getting ready to finish up for the weekend. Julianna loved to read so when she had the opportunity to help represent people who wanted to bring new books into the world, she jumped at the chance. It was a dream job; she made money by reading people’s manuscripts and matching them with the best publishing agency. Add the aesthetic view and she was practically in heaven.

Sometimes if she really enjoyed a manuscript that she was working with, she would bring it home and take notes on it over the weekend, but that wouldn’t be the case this weekend. She was going home, staying with her parents on the outskirts of town. The manuscript that was claiming to be the next big thing would have to wait until Monday. Julianna had her overnight bag underneath her desk and would be heading straight to the subway station when she locked up instead of taking the two block walk back to her apartment.

She was looking forward to her mother’s authentic Italian cooking and watching old movies with her
