About this ebook
The Book of Psalms is known as the Bible's songbook or the Hebrew hymnal. Jesus knew all 150 psalms intimately because they spoke of Him, as all the Scriptures speak of Him. Jesus said, "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me" (John 5:39).
Jon J. Cardwell has been writing daily devotional thoughts for years, first for his own understanding and blessing, and later, offering them to the congregations he served as pastor.
If you have not yet cultivated a daily devotional life, this book is a simple way to get started. If you already spend time in prayerful meditation upon the Scriptures, these 30 devotional thoughts from select psalms will be a blessing to you in exalting the Lord Jesus Christ from the psalms. They will bring you a new level of intimacy with Christ, and help you unleash a new passion for who Christ is in your life because of what He has done.

DAY 1 - THE SON’S SWEET KISS
KISS THE SON, LEST he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him. Psalm 2:12
KISSING THE SON MAY be a strange expression to western ears, however, the kiss of greeting, kiss of honor, the kiss of adoration, and the kiss of fellowship or acceptance are all familiar gestures in eastern thinking. Paul mentions this oriental salutation when he speaks of a holy kiss
among the brethren in his epistles (Rom 16:16; 1 Cor 16:20; 2 Cor 13:12; 1 Th 5:26). So what does this mean to us?
The first time this Hebrew word is used is when Isaac blesses Jacob, thinking he was Esau. Isaac said, "Come near and kiss me, my son" (Gen 27:26). Esau, the eldest of the twins, came out hairy while Jacob came out smooth. Esau, like Adam, sold his birthright for something to eat and was called Edom (Gen 3:12; 25:30-34). Isaac, being blind, only felt the arms of Jacob, which were covered in the soft skins of two young goats. Isaac said, The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau
(Gen 27:22)— because this prophetically speaks of the incarnation of Jesus Christ, God, who put on human flesh, spoke the words of heaven, and walked upon the earth as a Man. Jacob then came near and kissed
