About this ebook

Blue skies of August bring to mind,
carefree days of my childhood past.
Memories I had almost lost to time.
Blue skies of August bring them back at last.
Gone are the days when I played till dark,
and sometimes ran through the woods at night.
Not a worry in the world as if I were in a park.
Blue skies of August seemed very bright.

Staying out late, watching the meter shower,
and all the bright stars of the Milky Way.
I would stay there and count by the hour,
the falling stars, until the break of day.
Even though it may be muggy and hot,
we would gather for a game of baseball.
I loved playing in that old vacant lot.
On rainy days we may visit the billiard hall.

We could always find a place to swim,
Old strip mine pits were nice and cool.
We never had or knew about a gym.
Only Mom would let me dig a pool.
August is very special month for me,
I get a little older this time every year.
Blue skies of August don’t you agree,
bring back memories and maybe a tear.
