The collection of articles and essays by Alfred F. Krupa Texts (1994-2017)
is the first work in Croatia, after exactly 50 years, in which a painter, at the same time in expert and comprehensible way, testifies his painting experiences in watercolor and ink media. Previous bookAccess to the Artwork (Pristup likovnom djelu)
written by Matko Peić in 1968, which included all branches of classical painting and sculpture, reached respectful number of 15 editions, and still today isan inevitable manual for anyone who seeks basic information about particular painting and sculpting techniques and materials .Alfred F. Krupa's book Texts / Tekstovi (1994-2017)
is less pretentious in that sense, because the chosen texts relate only to the author's experience in water
painting techniques, but - in a themed area - is much more detailed and therefore it is useful for painters who are more seriously concerned with the above-mentioned techniques, as well for the general public, enabling a rare insight into the way how the artist, ie the painter, creates and experiences his own work.Krupa`s authentic discourses are brilliant and eloquent, and therefore they, in a constructive way, remove the cluster of mystification which even today is so typical for the most of reflections on the emergence of a work of art. Perhaps that specific quality is the main value of this collection, which will most likely (because all the texts are printed in Croatian and in English - as well as the author's 2014 monograph)experience a significant international reception.

Krupe „Tekstovi / Texts (1994. – 2017.) prvo je djelo u Hrvatskoj, nakon točno 50 godina u kojem jedan slikar, na istodobno stručan i svima razumljiv način, svjedoči o svojim slikarskim iskustvima u medijima akvarela i tuša. Prethodno takvo djelo, „Pristup likovnom djelu
Matka Peića iz 1968., koje zahvaća sve grane klasičnog slikarstva i kiparstva, doživjelo je petnajstak izdanja, te i danas predstavlja nezaobilazan priručnik za sve koji žele osnovnu informaciju o pojedinim slikarskim i kiparskim tehnikama i materijalima. Knjiga Alfreda F. Krupe „Tekstovi / Texts (1994. – 2017.) u tom je smislu manje pretenciozna, jer se izabrani tekstovi odnose samo na autorova iskustva u „vodenim
slikarskim tehnikama, ali je – u tematski izabranom području – mnogo detaljnija i stoga korisna kako slikarima koji se počinju ozbiljnije baviti navedenim tehnikama, tako i najširoj javnosti, kojoj omogućuje rijedak uvid u način na koji sam umjetnik, tj. slikar stvara i doživljava vlastito djelo. Krupini autentični diskursi živi su i elokventni, te stoga na konstruktivan način skidaju koprene mistifikacija koje i danas često prate promišljanja o nastanku likovnoga djela, te je možda upravo to glavna vrijednost ove zbirke, koja će vrlo vjerojatno – jer su svi tekstovi otisnuti i na hrvatskom i na engleskom – kao i autorova monografija iz 2014., doživjeti značajnu međunarodnu recepciju"

As for the Chinese ink, before we start with intense and serious work, I strongly recommend (as with watercolors) to familiarize yourself with dry drawing techniques (pencil, charcoal, chalk, pastel) that will give the beginner a lot more knowledge and give him the necessary drawing experience.
Of the above-mentioned techniques, the ink differs most from the weight of the work (almost no possibility of any major corrections), the sharp contrast to the white paper and the fine transparency it
