Introduction
I would like to thank you for purchasing this book, ‘Russian Cookbook: Traditional Russian Recipes Made Easy.’
People these days, along with their hectic lives and schedules; turn to cooking as an outlet to unwind, or even as an extension to their culinary interests. With the advent of technology, accessing a variety of recipes from different cultures to try out is no longer a big deal. In fact, it adds to the adventure to explore the cooking styles and habits of cultures all around the world.
One such food culture a lot of people are beginning to take an active interest in is – Russian cooking. How do you make traditional Russian recipes in an easy way? There are maybe a handful, or even less, books to help you out with that.
In mainstream culinary culture, Russian cooking has not yet been explored as a hobby or a favorite pastime in everyday, regular kitchens. It is most probably a result of not having the proper amount of information to guide you through it. Even if you look this up the Internet, you will hardly find any Russian recipes explained so easily and that too in English.
One of the brilliant aspects of Russian cuisine is how its history reflects in its vast array of recipes and food patterns. From the foods that were available during times of war and conflict to foods that have been recipes passed down generations and are still celebrated on the dinner table.
I hope you are ready to find out the beauty of Russian cooking, from their pancakes (Blini) to salads as interesting as to be called ‘herring under fur coat' (Seldka Pod Shuboy). And if that is insufficient to tantalize your taste buds, wait until you chance upon the likes of piroshki (meat/potato stuffed buns, hand pies) and a classic beef stroganoff recipe, and some pages later – the brilliance of Pashka (custardy cheesecake without the biscuit base) and Vatrushka (open cheese pies). Not to mention the stunning variety of soups.
Enough tantalization aside, I genuinely hope you have an immensely enjoyable exploration of the pages contained within and glean enough motivation to confidently stride into your kitchen even before you have gotten past several pages and keep coming back for more until you have an elaborate Russian spread awaiting
