Alcohol addiction has been around for a long time. For those who are not cursed with this illness, it can be difficult to fully understand the difficulties confronting those trying so desperately to kick their habit. For far too long, alcoholism has been seen as a weakness rather than for what it really is; a mental and physical illness. Fortunately those outdated views are slowly starting to evolve and many people are now more sympathetic to the problems that alcoholics face in their efforts to give up drinking.
Though attitudes may be beginning to change, modern medicine is still not having too much success in the way that it deals with this problem. Traditional rehab centers often show very little long term success with their patients and even short term results are not always promising. In part, that is down to the complexities of this illness but there is also a need to recognize that a wider means of addressing the problem needs to be found. Though there
