About this ebook
Comedy is subjective and it’s pretty much all over the board. There’s clean comedy, dirty jokes, long-winded story jokes, silly jokes, funny sounds, pictures and words, there’s even humor to be found from the Bible and from the religious community. It seems there is no end as to where the funny can be found.
Kelly Smith has found humor in her life starting from when she was a young girl swapping jokes with her cousin and neighborhood friends. Kelly graduated with honors from San Jose State University in San Jose California and decided to move to Los Angeles to begin her career in stand-up comedy. Three years later as she was making some headway into the 80’s comedy scene Kelly decided to marry a fellow artist, a musician...and the joke-writing was taken to a whole new level. Setting her comedy endeavors aside she took a full-time job to support her struggling musician-husband. Eleven years later she divorced the freeloader and found herself single and dating again...and the joke writing was taken to a whole new level. Life is messy, painful, wonderful and glorious, it can also be pretty darn funny.
Kelly has taken jokes she has written over the last three decades and some of the jokes and humor she has recalled from her years of searching for the funny and put it all in this book for all walks of life to enjoy.

Life is messy, glorious and pretty darn funny. Like most of you, I need to eat, so off to work I go. I earn my income as a recruiter staffing professionals across the USA for mostly large corporations. I've written a book on how to find a job, how to hire professionals and most recently I've written a book where I compiled all the funny moments that I can remember up to this point of my 58 years of living. I hope to educate, empower and entertain.

This book is dedicated to my late cousin, Jenny. Jenny and I would spend hours drinking root beer and telling jokes until we were slaphappy. Well into the morning hours we would tell each other endless one-liners, story jokes and make crank phone calls to unsuspecting grocery clerks and sometimes whomever was on the other line of the random number that we dialed. When Jenny and I got together the world was one big laugh-fest … that is until we started telling spooky stories, but that can wait for another book.
The following is a culmination of over five decades of material I have amassed through diaries, notes, newspaper articles and memories of telling jokes as a kid. I used to love spending the night at my cousin Jenny’s house, which was located out in the country in the farmlands of Michigan. At night you couldn’t see your hand in front of you. We would stay up sometimes till two in the morning telling spooky stories, jokes and story jokes or pulling dumb pranks like calling the local country store and asking if they had Prince Albert in a can. They would reply that they did, thinking we would come down and purchase the tobacco but instead we would tell the clerk to Let him out!
Then we would giggle as we hung up the phone. Later in my life when I was a young woman trying to make it as a stand-up comedienne in Los Angeles I was fortunate enough to attend a couple of private parties at The Improv on Melrose Avenue. Owner, Budd Friedman, would advise the comedians that the best thing they could do was to write as many jokes as possible every day. Budd said that for every one hundred jokes we wrote, maybe one would be really funny. I followed Budd’s advice and have written countless jokes, stories and funny material of all sorts. I hope that you agree that at least some of the material included in this book will be the truly humorous parts of my decades-long effort to write the funny.
