About this ebook

"Susa's approach to needle felting will give beginners the know-how to get started, but experienced felters will also appreciate her whimsical designs." --Library Journal

Cute Needle Felted Animal Friends shows you how to create lifelike felted figures that remind you of the pets you love--using a little wool roving, a felting needle, and a few basic tools and techniques. Even more than this, it shows you how to capture their adorable expressions when they're playing hard, napping, or just happy to see you. A sweetly cocked head, perky ears, and a tail that makes you think it's actually wagging--the charm of these miniature figures is all in the details!

Easy step-by-step instructions and photos show you how to make the basic shapes and components, then how to add details like long or curly hair, spines, and stripes, as well as little faces that are utterly irresistible. With a bit of practice, you'll be able to portray the unique poses and expressions of beloved pets from your own life.

And just like your pets, this needle felting book is so friendly that even novice felters will have no trouble making these miniature animal figures, including:

Cute Needle Felted Animal Friends - Sachiko Susa

    Introduction

Pets have long held a special place in our lives. There’s something about the unconditional affection and devotion particular to animals that tug at our heartstrings. Dogs, cats and other little furry (and un-furry) critters…which lively domesticated creatures share your life?

Inspired by the many adorable pets out there, I created felted animals in their likeness. It’s very satisfying to felt your own cute miniature pet.

Use the instructions in this book as a basic guide, but have fun customizing each animal to more closely resemble a real-life pet you know or may want to have as a companion one day. You can even add collars or clothes!

The projects shown in the instructional photos are their actual size. I’ve tried to be extra clear about how to add facial expressions and fur via a flocking method and there are many illustrations and photos to help you along the way.

Small enough to fit in the palm of your hands, these felted pets are easy to make, so please take a light-hearted approach and enjoy!

    Yorkshire Terrier

Can you tell that this little pup is a bit melancholy and needy but full of love? Did it spill some milk on purpose to get attention? Or is it pouting because it’s all alone at home? Various colors comprise the head, chest, paws, back and tail.

    Miniature Dachshund

Short, stubby legs. An elongated torso. The pointy nose. These distinctive characteristics of the miniature dachshund also make it a very beginner-friendly dog to make. Curving the ears adds extra personality.

    Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Mama dog and puppy both sport luxuriously draped ears with thick curly fur. To make the Mama’s ears, use wool roving intended for flocking. Position her head to tilt sideways to accentuate the majestic ears.
