    You, Definitely! - Marjan Emmerson

    Chapter 1

FIVE MILES IN THIRTY-eight minutes and fifteen seconds. Levi slows down before he stops and takes a moment to catch his breath. Turning to see if his two best friends have caught up to him. They both love martial arts more than jogging. Kamo is resting his hands on his knees and Sebastian is stretching to cool down.

This early in the morning there are only joggers and a few early birds who are walking their dogs. The swings and slide are empty and cold in the morning sun.

We will ... be ready for the park run in two weeks, Kamo smiles and starts drinking from his bottle.

Hopefully there will be some talent at this park run, Bash stands up and starts walking around the park, fulling expecting his friends to follow him.

Yeah, like Cupid and his chubby butt is going to work at a park run, Kamo reties his dreadlocks ignoring the appreciating looks two women passing them, gives him.

Levi stops laughing because the look in his friend’s eyes isn’t humorous. He turns to his other friend and Bash apparently gets the message and eases the mood.

Well, maybe not happily ever after potential, but at least a one-night stand hook-up. I haven’t gotten laid in nine months. I don’t even remember how to do it anymore. Bash’s eyes move after a Thor look-a-like past next to him.

Nine months? He beats his best friend with his two years, but Levi is not going to say anything. They don’t discuss his sex-life and Kamo’s recent break up is still a sore spot. Relationships are not a popular conversation, currently. He is trying to be the supportive one, while Bash provides comic relief. After a three-year relationship, Kamo finally realized that his boyfriend is not going to marry him. So he broke his own heart, walked out of the relationship, and they are doing everything to ensure that he doesn’t fall apart.

Thus why they are taking part in a park run.

Why are you so quiet? Kamo asks.

Rubbing over his own hair, Levi takes out the house key and starts walking to the park gate. I have a long day and am just trying to organize it in my head.

    Smile bitches!

Looking up, Levi hears the captured sound and tries to ignore the caption that is going to accompany the photo on Bash’s Snapchat account. Luckily none of his patients follows his friend on social media or they would lose confidence in his ability to take care of their children. Bash believes in funny, but completely inappropriate captions. Please keep it semi-appropriate. Dinner?

Yeah, I’ll get Thai food. Koma opens the back door and let’s Bash in. The time on the microwave makes Levi hurry to his room. If he doesn't leave within the next forty-five minutes, he is stuck in traffic and nothing quiet ruins his day like being stuck going nowhere fast.

You next appointment, Aria Michaelson, is here. The nurse stands in the door. Are you ready?

Five minutes, please, Levi says as he finishes the file he’s busy with.

Okay, I can take the basics medical information, so long.

Thanks, Meg. He likes this patient very much. She was six years old, smart and a bit of a hell-raiser, the type of kid he wants to have one day. She seems to have a way of manipulating any situation to her benefit. She is a savvy negotiator.

And Levi never regretted that he was one of her more easy targets. She will make an amazing businesswoman in the future.

You may go in, Mr. Michaelson.

Meg’s slightly flirty voice makes him looks up. Not just because it’s inappropriate for her to flirt with clients – which it is, but it is the first time that Aria’s father brought her to the appointments. He knew there is a father in the picture because of the medical aid information, but the man clearly didn’t believe in equal parenting.

Taking a moment to hide his own anger at the unfairness of traditional child rearing, he puts on his poker face.

It sounds like Meg is leading them to a bright, cheery room where she would take Aria’s height and weight, asking questions about her health. Hopefully, Mr. Michaelson knew Aria’s basic information and he doesn’t want to reschedule this appointment.

Oh, and just so you know, he heard a strong and calm voice sounding like
